Check the sheathing
We make sure it's flat, dry and fastened before anything covers it.
Additions · Garages · New builds
Adding a room or building new? We put up vinyl that's nailed and gapped to stay flat through hot summers.
New work
New walls are the best chance to get the details right from the start. We install vinyl on room additions, garages and new homes, with wrap and flashing set before the first panel.
On additions, the goal is a wall that looks like it was always there. We match the profile and reveal of the existing house as closely as current products allow, and tell you up front if the color will read slightly different.
Re-siding a whole older house instead? Our page on vinyl siding Houston Texas homes covers tear-off, costs and local rules.

Heat and movement
Vinyl gets longer as it warms, and a long wall in full sun moves more than you'd think. The Vinyl Siding Institute's guidance is simple, and we follow it on every wall:
Skip those and panels can buckle on the first hot afternoon. The wavy look on some newer Houston homes is often a nailing problem, not a bad panel.
Planning
On new construction, siding installation runs on your builder's schedule: sheathing and windows in, then wrap, flashing and panels. Coordinating early keeps windows and trim from being set at heights that make clean J-channel work impossible.
On an addition, we tie the new wrap into the existing wall and plan where new and old panels meet, usually at a corner or a natural break, so a seam doesn't run across the middle of a wall.
Order of work
We make sure it's flat, dry and fastened before anything covers it.
Housewrap is lapped top over bottom, with flashing at every window, door and roof line.
A level starter strip and plumb corner posts set up every course that follows.
Panels are hung with room to move, then soffit, fascia and trim finish the edges.
Budget
A full house of vinyl typically costs $8,000 to $24,000 for about 2,000 square feet of wall. An addition or garage costs a share of that, based on its wall area, number of openings and how much trim it needs.
| Job | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Full vinyl re-side, about 2,000 sq ft of wall | $8,000–$24,000 |
| Siding repairs, all materials | $700–$3,300 |
| Vinyl repair, per sq ft | $2–$7 |
| Wood repair, per sq ft | $4–$11 |

Two-story walls, lots of windows and custom trim push a project toward the top of the range.

Usually close, sometimes exact. Profile and reveal are easier to match than an older, faded color, and we show you samples against your wall first.
After windows and doors are installed and the sheathing is dried in, before any exterior trim is set.
Traditional lap is the most common look, Dutch lap adds a shadow line, and board-and-batten runs vertically. If your neighborhood has deed restrictions, check them first.
Often, especially as part of an addition that already has a building permit. We'll confirm what applies to your project.
Usually the nails were driven tight or the panels had no room at the ends, so they buckle as they heat up. We nail for movement to avoid it.
